• Someone controls my money or identity documents Financial control can affect your ability to leave and should be part of safety planning.
• There are weapons or threats of lethal violence Treat imminent threats as an emergency. Tell responders and advocates about weapons and specific threats.
• An ex is threatening to share intimate images Treat threats seriously and preserve safe evidence; legal and platform remedies may both be available.
• I need shelter but have children, a disability or a pet Tell the advocate about practical access needs so they can help identify suitable resources.
• I was served with a restraining or protection order Read and comply with the order immediately, even if you dispute the allegations.
• Abuse is affecting my immigration documents or status Seek qualified immigration and survivor assistance; an abusive person does not determine your legal options.
• I want help but do not want to make a police report Advocacy and some civil remedies can be available independently of a criminal report.
